if we read much about theater what intellectual or majority think about theater, we may not find something positive about theater or drama. actual time some says theater almost died. even though some of the education systems try to re-inject the theater knowledge and it's importance many of generation show that it is not interesting anymore. it might be cause of several new inventions of our supreme technological interesting tools of our life. as i mention earlier cinema took place of theater, people more interested and with it and with instant TV shows. may be we can say, middle of twentieth century young generation frontiers of these new style. rather slowly theater give it's place to cinema and tv. and now today's the aged, even they don't have will to have enjoyment with theater.
whatever it is, theater might be still one of the significant instrument for people. the function of the theater is not simply undervalue in current time. how much mass media has effect on societies to teach, to inform, entertain, theater has that much effect.
theater can be educational for people to educate them. many important values can be tamed in the theater plays. in different ways or with different manner ethical issues can be revealed to the spectator. i believe that even a short time educational theater scene where the spectator fall deep in to play, can effect them. message can be delivered in the critical moment. i believe also that theater will be more educational that other visual shows. because it will touch to people affection with alive senses, in a good theater play, audience will appreciate more. alive actions is more realistic in the sight of audience.
same thing for entertainment concept. one of the function of theater can be also entertainment. with ironic style and with comic way, emotions of the audience can flicker. in theater people may enjoy also. they can choose to go theater just for fun. in absurd and comic style theater people may have some fun and lough.
however for me societal and educational issues have resemblance. societal function of theater inform people more about social affairs. there may not be much interest if theater theme is more societal. but societal theme can be progressed with educational theme of theater.
i think function of theater might be educational with ironic and comic style, even audiences who came just for entertainment they may also get some ideas or affected by the theme of theater. other vise, it is easy to leave play without watching.
